If i can get as many “notes” on this post as possible, I’m sure it will get some attention at some point. & of course, I will continue to send more…

To Whom It May Concern:

Let me briefly introduce myself. My name is Amy, born in 1986 & grew up watching Nicktoons of the 90s.  I recently started a blog called Nostalgic Nickelodeon, within a few weeks it gathered 100 followers & continues to grow. In my opinion, & many other’s I’ve found, the new cartoons just aren’t the same as they used to be. Of course, time changes all & I’m sure every child thinks their childhood was the best. My reason for this letter is that many of us miss the old shows that were aired throughout the late 80s & 90s. I’m sure this is not the first letter you’ve received from some nostalgic Nicktoon lover, but in hopes that someday we can get our shows back I’m sure these letters will keep coming. Nickelodeon will occasionally play reruns of Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy & Rocko’s Modern Life, but many shows are left out. Doug, for example, or Ahhh Real Monsters. Not to mention all the shows aired on SNICK & Nick Jr. I’ve come across many posts stating that Nickelodeon may be producing new episodes of our old shows, picking them up where they left off. I’m not sure if this was true or not, but if it is true, it’s still not what we 90’s Nicktoon fans want. All we want are our old shows back – the reruns! I’ve also heard & come across articles stating that you will be airing 90s nick shows in the evenings during the fall. This is awesome! But couldn’t we push the idea just a little farther? We want to see our old shows during the day too, & more of them than the selected few I’ve seen listed. I started thinking one night after coming across so many websites, blogs, posts, letters stating how they miss our old shows from the 90s, that why not make a whole new network for just that? Something a lot like Boomarang, which is a huge hit, but it could be for just the Nickelodeon shows from the 80s & 90s. I know it would be a huge success, & many nostalgic Nicktoons fans will have that channel tuned on 24-7. We are very passionate about our old shows as they bring back such fond memories for us. Even our kids like the shows. My 3 year old daughter’s favorite show is Rugrats (Luckily it’s played at 1am & I am able to record it). There’s also Netflix where we are able to enjoy some of these throwbacks, but it’s not the same. It would seriously be a dream for so many to have a channel to flip on that just produces our old shows. Some of the show’s I could think of off the top of my head would be:

Rugrats

Doug

Ren & Stimpy

Rocko’s Modern Life

Rocket Power

Spongebob (of course)

Angry Beavers

Ahhh! Real Monsters

Hey Arnold!

CatDog

Clarissa Explains It All

Kenan & Kel

Kablam!

Legends of the Hidden Temple

Weinerville

Double Dare

You Can’t Do That on Television!

All That

The Adventures of Pete & Pete

Are you Afraid of the Dark?

Salute Your Shorts

Allegra’s Window

The Busy World of Richard Scary

Eureeka’s Castle

Gullah Gullah Island

The bumpers & shorts, are extremely missed as well. It would be awesome if all of these could be played on a channel – even bring back Stick Stickly, Face & all the Nick Jr shows. Nickelodeon, you have produced some wonderful TV shows over the years, so much that we can’t forget them or let them go. It’s something your network should be extremely proud of. I know my parent’s miss some of their shows, & other such things, but not as much as we seem to - children of the 90s are so much more passionate & in need for or old programs back! Please at least consider an option for some sort of nostalgic Nickelodeon network. It would be more then appreciated by millions.

About this site:
Welcome to NostalgicNick! The creation of this blog came to me after browsing through tagged “nickelodeon” photos on Tumblr for my own personal blog. So many people post old photos of their favorite Nick shows (no longer playing on Nickelodeon) with comments like “wish Nick was like it was when I was little” & “cartoons just aren’t the same anymore”. So many people feel this way, me included. I’ve always been passionate about nostalgia & anything from my childhood, I think it’s important to relive those positive memories & feelings (for those of us who had them of course) & even pass them down to our children. I know there are many other people who have come up with the very same idea coursing through my brain, I’m not in any way trying to compete or compare my blog, hey, the more the merrier! I’m simply creating this blog out of my own personal passion, as I’m sure the other blogs are as well. My hope for this blog is to gain enough followers as passionate as myself & perhaps petition all of our old shows back. I came across several posts stating that Nickelodeon is pitching the idea of bringing back some of our old shows, possibly having the characters picking up where they left off – thus creating “new” cartoons based on the old ones. I think it’s a great idea, but still not what we’re asking for. We just want our old cartoons back – reruns; the same episodes we used to watch everyday as children. Creating a new cartoon is beside the point. My theory would be for the Nickelodeon studios to create a network for just those old shows; kind of like Boomerang but with all of our beloved Nickelodeon toons. Not only do I know this network would be a hit, but all of us hopeless nostalgia’s would be in heaven. Please follow, spread the word & let’s cross our fingers that this will become a reality some day!
